Shop gold-plated jewelleryWhat does gold-plated mean?
Gold-plated refers to the thin layer of gold applied over another metal. While these pieces are not solid gold, the plating consists of 14k gold. To be labelled gold-plated, the layer of gold must be equal to or greater than 0.5 microns.
At Pandora, we coat our unique metal blend with palladium, which acts as a barrier between the core and the gold plating. We use electroplating to add a layer of luminous 14k gold so that your jewellery truly stands the test of time and keeps its colour and shine.
RECYCLED GOLD-PLATED JEWELLERY AT PANDORA
Gold is a unique material that can be recycled infinitely without losing its unique expression. To reduce our carbon footprint, we have already begun to exclusively source recycled gold to craft and create our jewellery. We're aiming for all our new gold-plated products to be produced with 100% recycled gold by the end of 2025.
HOW TO CLEAN GOLD-PLATED JEWELLERY
- You can clean gold-plated jewellery with a Pandora Care Kit. Soak your pieces in our special cleaning solution for two minutes, remove them, and pat them dry. Buff your gold and rose gold-plated jewellery with the pink side of our polishing cloth, as this is formulated to gently restore shine to your plated items without removing the finish.
- To help extend the lifespan of your plated pieces, we recommend storing them in a separate jewellery box or pouch to protect them from scratches. It's important to remove your jewellery before swimming, bathing or exercising, too.
