Absolutely. Before you clean your jewellery pieces, it’s important to understand what materials they’re made of. There are different protocols for cleaning diamonds, pearls, metals and other stones. Examine your jewellery carefully and make a note of the stones or metals. Often, when purchasing a new piece of jewellery, you'll find care instructions inside. This way, you’ll know what to do when you need to clean your pieces. When in doubt, contact your local Pandora store and one of our staff members will gladly assist you. They can help you identify the different types of jewellery you own and suggest products to add to your cleaning kit.
Cleaning instructions
From Pandora Moments to Pandora Me, the cleaning instructions below cover all Pandora jewellery and collections. Choose the care instructions to match your jewellery.
How often should you clean jewellery?
We recommend having your Pandora jewellery pieces checked by a jeweller once a year. If you’re looking for where to get rings cleaned or where to get jewellery cleaned, remember that your local Pandora store is the place to go for professional cleaning and to check stone settings.
Why does jewellery tarnish?
When silver is exposed to air over a longer period of time, it's likely to oxidise and turn a darker colour. Don’t worry though, this is absolutely normal. To restore its original look, just use the Pandora Care Kit to make your favourite pieces bright and shiny again. Simply place your ring, bracelet, necklace, earrings or charm in the gentle cleaning solution for a few minutes and after you take it out, use the small brush to loosen any dirt. Next, dry and buff it with the white side of the polishing cloth – it's infused with a gentle cleaning solution that’s specifically formulated for sterling silver. For plated metals, such as 14k rose gold-plated and 14k gold-plated, use the untreated side of the polishing cloth. That’s it! Your Pandora jewellery will look just like new.
How to clean and maintain your Pandora jewellery
Polish your Pandora jewellery frequently with a soft polishing cloth to maintain their shine. Buff your sterling silver pieces with the white side of the polishing cloth – it's infused with a gentle cleaning solution that’s specifically formulated for our signature metal. For plated metals, such as 14k rose gold-plated and 14k gold-plated, use the untreated pink side of the polishing cloth. You can use the approved Pandora Care Kit to clean Pandora rings, bracelets, charms, necklaces, pendants and earrings. Before using the kit, check the instructions for individual stone care on the corresponding page of this jewellery guide to make sure you care for any extra materials on your piece in the recommended way. When using Pandora’s mild cleaning solution, leave jewellery to soak for approximately two minutes and then follow the instructions for polishing. Don’t use toothpaste or harsh abrasive products when cleaning it and avoid using ultrasonic cleaners, which may cause damage.
